Hi friends!

I’m Maja Sofie — mom to two wonderful girls and the heart behind Hygge and Homeschool. I’ve officially homeschooled my oldest since she started first grade in 2021, and it’s been a journey full of learning, laughter, and lots of cozy moments.

We don’t follow one set curriculum. Instead, I create our own unit studies based on what we’re curious about. I’m inspired by Charlotte Mason’s beautiful living books, the magic, creativity, and gentleness of Waldorf, and all the hands-on play and exploring that makes the Montessori world so rich and fun.

I chose the name Hygge and Homeschool because hygge is such a big part of how I see the world — and how I homeschool. I’m originally from Denmark, and if you’ve never heard of hygge, it’s that warm, cozy feeling in your belly when you’re wrapped in a blanket on a winter day with a cup of tea and snow falling outside… or when you lose track of time talking with your closest friends… or when your kids look up at you, smiling with twinkly eyes and warm play dough in their hands.

Our days aren’t always picture-perfect — but my hope is that no matter what, there’s always a little hygge tucked into the corners of our homeschool. And I hope to share some of that with you.

Thanks so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I’m so glad you’re here — and I hope you leave feeling inspired.

Happy Homeschooling,
Maja Sofie 💛
